1June 30th, 2013 - On Friday night Jake traveled to Callaway Raceway (Fulton, Missouri) in his #08 Bob Pierce Open Wheel Modified for a UMP Weekly Racing Series Event. Heat race struggles left Griffin starting twelfth on the grid for the main event. Despite having to compete against some competitors, who were running illegal spoilers Jake was able to advance through the field to record a second place finish at the checkered flag.

On Saturday night Griffin was slated to compete with the UMP Summit Nationals at Federated Raceway at I-55, but late afternoon rain nixed the program.

1The weekend concluded on Sunday evening at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Illinois) with another UMP Summit Nationals event that drew a staggering field of fifty-nine entries to the bull ring. After qualifying fourth in his group he raced to a second place finish in his heat race to lock into the twelfth starting spot for the main event. In the feature he would battle the handle as he slipped to a sixteenth place finish in the final rundown.

1June 23rd, 2013 - Another busy extended weekend of racing began for Jake Griffin on Saturday at Salem Speedway (Salem, Indiana) with the JEGS/CRA All Star Tour at the speed plant. The day started with the team having to make quick repairs as a hole was knocked in the oil pan in practice. Luckily the team was able to get it repaired in time for Jake to qualify eleventh fastest on the grid for the 100 lap finale. Early in the event Jake would drop back through the field with an ill-handling car, but after a pit stop for changes he exhibited great patience on the high-banked, asphalt oval as he raced his way back through the pack to finish third behind race winner, Cody Coughlin, and Thomas Woodin. Full results from the program as well as the latest series' standings are available at www.CRA-Racing.com.

Sunday evening found the team looking to compete at Quincy Raceway (Quincy, Illinois) in their #08 Dirt Open Wheel Modified, but rain forced the program to be canceled. 1As a result the team traveled to Quad City Speedway (East Moline, Illinois) for the second-straight Sunday to enter a Weekly Racing Series Event. With twenty-seven entries on hand Jake blazed to fast time honors to earn the pole for the first heat race. A third place finish in his heat race positioned him starting seventh in the feature. Unfortunately Griffin's outing in the main event would come to an early end, when a slide job gone bad from another competitor ended his night. 1June 19th, 2013 - Jake returned to action on Wednesday evening with a UMP DIRTCar Summit Nationals event at Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Illinois), and while he came up a little short in his bid for the win it would prove to be a career night for the young driver.

Forty competitors took to the high-banked oval, and heat race struggles left him starting tenth in his b-main. With only the top two finishers transferring to the feature Griffin got up on the wheel and charged to a second place finish, which locked him into the twentieth starting spot for the 25 lap feature. While most competitors headed to the low side for the feature Griffin immediately went to work on the cushion and began working his way forward as soon as the gren flag dropped. In the closing laps he caught the leader and was passing the leader, Kenny Wallace, for the lead on the white flag lap, when he jumped the cushion. Griffin would rebound to finish a still impressive fourth at the checkered flag. Click Here to view video of the main event.

On Saturday evening the team was rained out at Lebanon I-44 Speedway (Lebanon, Missouri).

On Sunday evening the team traveled to Quad City Speedway (East Moline, Illinois) 1for an UMP Open Wheel Modified event. Twenty-one competitors took to the track for the event, and struggles in time trials left Jake starting eigtheenth in the feature. Despite starting deep in the field the team made wholesale changes to the car for the finale, which led to him advancing twelve spots to register an 6th place finish at the checkered flag. 1June 9th, 2013 - Jake's weekend opened on Friday at Dixie Motor Speedway (Birch Run, Michigan), where the JEGS/CRA All Star Tour sanctioned the Dixie 100. After registering the ninth fastest time in practice Griffin qualified twenty-second fastest in time trials to earn the twenty-second starting spot for the feature. As the race went green he began working his way forward and was up to the eighth position, when contact from another competitor sent him spinning. Luckily he didn't receive any damage and was able to rejoin the tail of the field before rebounding to a thirteenth place finish.

With the finish Griffin now leads the Rookie of the Year points with the tour and is in the top ten in the overall standings for the JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour.

1On Saturday evening Griffin made his first trip of the year to Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Illinois) for an UMP Open Wheel Modified program. Twenty-six entries took part in the program, and Jake started his night by powering his #08 Bob Pierce entry to the win in his heat race, which locked him into the pole starting spot for the finale. In the feature the team tried a new setup on the car, which resulted in the handle not being quite where Jake would've liked it. Despite battling the handle Griffin still managed to finish fourth behind race winner, Butch Weisser, Eric Bruce, and Allen Weisser.
